BMW M GmbH has reached a production milestone: the one‑millionth M badged vehicle recently rolled off the assembly line in Munich.
BMW M combines road and racetrack capabilities with everyday practicality. The one-millionth BMW M vehicle shows that these values are still very much appreciated by our customers, 40 years after the market launch of the first BMW M3,
The commemorative car is an M3 finished in BMW Individual Fire Orange III and was presented to Peter Weber, head of BMW Group Plant Munich, by BMW M CEO Franciscus van Meel.

BMW gave few details about the specific car, but it appears to be an M3 Competition. The model is described with a twin‑turbo 3.0‑litre six‑cylinder available in outputs of 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) and 523 hp (390 kW / 530 PS). When fitted with all‑wheel drive it is said to accelerate from 0–60 mph (0–96 km/h) in 3.4 seconds and reach a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
BMW has confirmed the Munich plant will build only fully electric vehicles from 2027 and is investing around €650 million in the facility. The company says i3 production started in August and that the plant will eventually build the M3 EV.
Alongside the milestone BMW released images of a camouflaged M3 EV prototype. The production mule closely echoes the concept shown in June but with toned‑down details: a less aggressive front bumper and smaller splitter, conventional mirrors, flush‑mounted door handles and a more traditional rear end.
Certain styling cues from the concept remain on the prototype, including yellow headlight graphics and squared‑off lower lighting units. The images also show a ventilated bonnet and a small rear spoiler.
BMW is keeping technical specifications for the M3 EV tightly guarded. The car is expected to use a quad‑motor layout in some form, and rumoured power figures have ranged from 691 hp (515 kW / 700 PS) to 986 hp (735 kW / 1,000 PS). By comparison the Mercedes‑AMG C‑Class Electric is expected to use a tri‑motor setup with around 789 hp (588 kW / 800 PS), so BMW could target figures in a similar band.
