Tesla drops Full Self-Driving name in Europe, rebrands as Tesla Assisted Driving
Tesla has rebranded its Full Self-Driving package as 'Tesla Assisted Driving' across European websites and owner's manuals as it seeks EU‑wide approval for the company’s driver‑assistance system.

Tesla has renamed its Full Self-Driving package 'Tesla Assisted Driving' on its European websites and updated owner’s manuals in markets including Spain, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands.
The change applies only in Europe; Tesla has not announced a global renaming.

Safety regulators in several countries had criticised the 'Full Self‑Driving' name as misleading, saying it could give drivers false confidence about the system’s capabilities, Reuters has reported.
Tesla’s system does not deliver full autonomy in all scenarios and does not allow drivers to disengage their attention while the car is in motion. The company previously labelled the package 'Full Self‑Driving (Supervised)' and published warnings that a human driver remains responsible.
The renaming follows regulatory progress in the bloc: roughly six months after the Dutch regulator RDW authorised the system, seven other EU member states — Croatia, Slovenia, Czechia, Estonia, Lithuania, Denmark and Belgium — have also cleared the driver‑assistance functions. Slovakia is expected to approve the system soon, the source reports.
A planned EU vote on whether the system may be introduced across the bloc was scheduled for this month but has been delayed until December. For EU‑wide introduction a qualified majority of 15 of the EU’s 27 member states must vote in favour.
Company boss Elon Musk has been pushing for EU‑wide approval of the system, which Tesla says is a crucial part of its future; the name change removes one of the regulators’ stated objections but does not guarantee approval.
