Ferrari’s Newest XX Model is a 1016-HP Street-Legal Missile.
The 2024 Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale is a formidable fusion of Ferrari's track-focused engineering and street-legal design, resulting in a 1016-horsepower plug-in hybrid supercar. As the first street-legal Ferrari to feature a fixed rear wing since the iconic F40 and F50 models, the SF90 XX Stradale exudes a menacing aesthetic that underscores its high-performance capabilities.
At its heart lies an all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid system that combines a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine with three electric motors—one integrated between the V-8 and the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and one at each front wheel for enhanced torque vectoring. This configuration delivers a total of 1016 horsepower, with the V-8 alone contributing 786 horsepower, an increase achieved through the implementation of new pistons and polished intake and exhaust tracts. The electric motors provide an additional 217 horsepower, with a new "extra boost" feature releasing an extra 13 horsepower in short bursts when the vehicle is in its most aggressive Qualifying mode.
Aerodynamically, the SF90 XX Stradale has been meticulously optimized to generate 1168 pounds of downforce at 155 mph, a significant increase over the standard SF90's 860 pounds. This enhancement is achieved through a comprehensive suite of modifications, including a deeper front splitter, redesigned hood, fender vents, a larger diffuser, and the integration of both an active rear spoiler and a fixed rear wing. These elements work in concert to improve high-speed stability, although the increased aerodynamic drag reduces the top speed from 211 mph to 199 mph.
The vehicle's chassis benefits from weight-saving measures, such as the use of carbon-fiber components, resulting in an estimated curb weight of 3800 pounds—approximately 20 pounds lighter than a standard SF90 equipped with the lightweight Assetto Fiorano package. Despite its track-oriented focus, the SF90 XX Stradale retains essential comfort features, including power windows and air conditioning.
During testing at Ferrari's Fiorano circuit, the SF90 XX Stradale demonstrated exceptional performance, with its Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires providing substantial grip. The car's hybrid powertrain delivers instantaneous torque, allowing for rapid acceleration out of corners, while the V-8 engine's feral howl fills the cabin as it revs to 8300 rpm. The integration of optimized sound tubes enhances the auditory experience, immersing the driver in the vehicle's mechanical symphony.
Production of the SF90 XX Stradale is limited, with only 799 coupes and 599 Spider convertibles planned, priced at $890,000 and $995,000 respectively. This exclusivity, combined with its unparalleled performance and aggressive design, positions the SF90 XX Stradale as a pinnacle of Ferrari's engineering prowess, blurring the line between road-going supercars and dedicated track machines.
