Meet the ID Tiguan: VW’s familiar‑looking EV replacing the ID 4 and ID 5, with up to 373 miles WLTP
Volkswagen has revealed the ID Tiguan — an MEB+‑based electric SUV offered in rear‑ and all‑wheel‑drive layouts with 58 kWh and 77 kWh battery packs, European pre‑sales from €42,695 and a WLTP range claimed at up to 373 miles.

Volkswagen has introduced the ID Tiguan, an electric SUV intended to replace both the ID 4 and ID 5 and aimed at buyers who prefer a more conventional SUV appearance.
Built on Volkswagen’s MEB+ platform, the ID Tiguan will be offered with two battery sizes: a 58‑kWh unit in the base rear‑wheel‑drive model and a 77‑kWh pack for higher‑spec rear‑wheel‑drive and all‑wheel‑drive versions.

Power outputs are 187 horsepower for the 58‑kWh rear‑wheel‑drive model, 282 hp for the 77‑kWh rear‑wheel‑drive car, and a single 4MOTION all‑wheel‑drive configuration that uses the 77‑kWh pack and produces a combined 295 hp.
VW says the ID Tiguan can travel up to 373 miles (600 km) on a single charge under the WLTP cycle. It is presumed this figure applies to the 77‑kWh rear‑wheel‑drive version, but Volkswagen has not confirmed which specific model achieves the 373‑mile claim.
Towing capacity is 1,800 kg (3,968 lbs) for the 58‑kWh model and 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs) for the 77‑kWh derivatives.

Design and cabin
The ID Tiguan adopts Volkswagen’s Pure Positive design language with a distinctive light bar and intricate LED daytime running lights at the front and narrow illuminated stripes across the tailgate. Glowing badges appear on the front and rear.
Inside, Volkswagen has moved away from the touch‑sensitive piano‑black controls of its outgoing models. The Tiguan gains a new steering wheel with physical buttons, a larger integrated digital instrument cluster (including a ‘Retro’ theme with four traditional gauges), a larger infotainment screen and an optional passenger display. Under the central vents are nine physical HVAC switches, plus a volume knob and two wireless phone chargers.
Optional equipment announced so far includes massaging, heated and ventilated front seats, a Harman Kardon audio system, a panoramic sunroof and Digital Key smartphone support.

Volkswagen has confirmed the ID Tiguan will launch in North America, although it has not given a timing for that market. Pre‑sales across Europe begin on October 13 with prices starting at €42,695 ($47,900), and deliveries are scheduled to start early next year.
